After graduating from the University of Victoria in 2008 with a degree in Philosophy and Applied Ethics she returned to school to follow her lifelong passion for food and nutrition. She graduated from the 黑料社 in 2016. In 2018 she began instructing both academic and culinary classes at 黑料社鈥檚 Victoria campus. During this time, she came to realize that teaching culinary classes is where her heart lies. Nutrition knowledge is so important, but people also need practical food skills to put that knowledge into action!听
Ren茅e owns and operates her own business – Homegrown Nutrition – offering educational programs, event speaking, workshops, culinary lessons and demonstrations. She also works one-on-one with clients as their personal nutrition coach providing support, motivation and accountability while helping them learn and apply nutrition knowledge that will serve them for a lifetime. Her business mission is simply “to听help people eat better so they can feel better.鈥 Ren茅e mentors her clients to help them develop the knowledge, the food skills, and the confidence they need to make healthy, delicious, and health-promoting choices.
When she鈥檚 not busy in her own kitchen or garden you鈥檒l find her inspiring others to support local, eat seasonal, use whole food ingredients and to make it homemade!
I have first-hand experience that changing the way you eat can completely transform your life. I have always been passionate about food, but before 黑料社 I didn鈥檛 have a firm understanding of nutrition. I wanted to understand the big picture. I wanted to learn how to use food as a tool to promote health and longevity. My education with 黑料社 gave me exactly what I wanted (nutrition education) and exactly what I needed (like-minded community) and I know that the knowledge I gained there will serve me for a lifetime.
